J. Hunt Brasfield
J. Hunt Brasfield is a Senior Partner in Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP. He was born in Staten Island, NY and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Trinity College in 1964. He went on to secure his Juris Doctor from George Washington University in 1967. During this time, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Edmond T. Daily.
Thereafter, Mr. Brasfield was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1968, District of Columbia Bar in 1968, and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court in 1974. He is a member of the Alexandria Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and the Virginia State Bar Association. Mr. Brasfield is the founding member of the Alexandria Bar Foundation and served as Ex-Vice Chairman and Acting Chairman of the Alexandria Economic Opportunity Commission from 1990-1991. He has also served as a Neutral Case Evaluator (NCE) and as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate for the Fairfax, Virginia Circuit Court. Mr. Brasfield also serves as a panel member for Attorneys’ Arbitration and Mediation Services, Inc.
During the course of his career, Hunt Brasfield was successful in securing a million dollar verdict. His additional achievements include the authoring of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) publications dealing with plaintiff’s personal injury litigation issues. He is a frequent speaker for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) programs.
From 1968 to 1972 Hunt Brasfield served as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps of the United States Air Force. Thereafter, he began his legal career and has been with Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP since 1972.
