Nathan M. Peak
Nathan M. Peak was born and raised in Manhattan, Kansas. He graduated with a double major in Political Science and International Relations from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 2002, cum laude and with University Honors. Mr. Peak received his Juris Doctor in 2005 from the Washington College of Law, American University, in Washington, D.C. While in law school Mr. Peak was awarded a Marshall-Brennan Fellowship, which involved teaching constitutional law to high school students in the District of Columbia. In addition, Mr. Peak was a member and participated in the Washington College of Law Criminal Justice Clinic, where he represented indigent clients facing criminal charges in Montgomery County, Maryland.
Mr. Peak joined Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP in 2007. Since that time he has primarily focused his practice of law in the areas of workers’ compensation and personal injury damage claims, representing individuals and family members of those who have been seriously injured or killed as the result of a third party’s negligence. Mr. Peak has negotiated substantial settlements on behalf of his clients as well as successfully litigated numerous cases in District and Circuit Courts throughout the State of Maryland.
In addition to personal injury and workers’ compensation litigation, Mr. Peak has experience representing whistle blowers who are bringing claims under the Federal False Claims Act (“FCA”). Mr. Peak has increasingly focused his professional career in the area of qui tam litigation and has been a member of Ashcraft & Gerel’s False Claims Act practice group since 2009. Mr. Peak has experience working on cases involving Medicare and Medicaid, Iraq Reconstruction, Davis-Bacon Act wage violations and other areas involving government contracting fraud.
Mr. Peak also represents clients with claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Maryland Workplace Fraud Act.
Nathan M. Peak is a member of the Maryland State Bar, the Bar of the District of Columbia, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, and the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
