Wayne M. Mansulla

Wayne M. Mansulla is a Senior Partner with Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP and was born in Brockton, Massachusetts. He attended Stonehill College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in 1968, majoring in Mathematics and Philosophy. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law School in 1974.

Mr. Mansulla was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1974, the District of Columbia Bar in 1975 and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court in 1978.  He is a member of the American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar, Trial Lawyers Association of Metropolitan Washington, DC, and Virginia State Bar.

Mr. Mansulla was responsible for establishing an important precedent in the District of Columbia Court of Appeals on the issue of contributory negligence. Under the theory advocated by Mr. Mansulla and adopted by the Court of Appeals, if a defendant in a negligence lawsuit violates a safety regulation, it cannot defend the case by alleging that the plaintiff was contributorily negligent.

Mr. Mansulla has also presented oral and written argument before the United States Supreme Court in the landmark litigation involving Agent Orange exposure in Viet Nam.

After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree, Mr. Mansulla served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1972.  After law school, he immediately began his legal career with Ashcraft & Gerel, LLP in 1975, and he currently concentrates his practice on medical malpractice litigation.
