During our 57 plus years of handling workers’ compensation claims for the victims of on the job injuries, Ashcraft & Gerel’s lawyers have frequently witnessed first hand the emotional and financial devastation that a serious work related injury or death wreaks on the lives of the worker’s loved ones. We do what we can to help by providing the best possible representation in handling their workers’ compensation cases, but there is a limit to the benefits provided by the workers’ compensation law. Therefore, Ashcraft & Gerel is very proud to announce that our partner, Jonathan Beiser, was unanimously voted to the Board of Directors of Kid’s Chance of Maryland, Inc. Kid’s Chance of Maryland, Inc is a non-profit organization that provides college scholarships to children of Maryland workers who have been seriously or fatally injured during the course of their employment. Kid’s Chance raises money through its Annual Golf Tournament, Annual Gala and sponsorship opportunities. The organization states on its web site:

“Every year, thousands of workers are disabled by on-the-job injuries in Maryland. Tragically, on average, about 100 workers in Maryland lose their lives every year. It’s the families and, in particular, the children who are many times forgotten when these losses occur. Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. provides an opportunity for these children to pursue their education, reach their goals, and fulfill their dreams for the future.”

Scholarships are awarded on a semester basis, and must be renewed each semester. An application for the scholarship is available on the group’s web site.
