Boy Scouts of America

Ashcraft & Gerel has stepped up to help survivors of sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts of America seek the justice and compensation they deserve. For decades, thousands of boys were sexually abused by Scout leaders and others while participating inn BSA programs.

On January 12, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the final appeal challenging the settlement, making the plan final and clearing the way for continued distributions to survivors.

The Scouting Settlement Trust is actively reviewing claims and has already paid out hundreds of millions of dollars to tens of thousands of survivors. Compensation amounts vary based on the nature and severity of the abuse.

If you are a current Boy Scout client and need to speak to someone at our Firm about your case, please email: [email protected]

How Compensation Is Determined

Awards under the Scouting Settlement Trust are based on a detailed evaluation of each survivor’s claim. Key factors include:

  • The severity and nature of the abuse (claims are assigned to one of five abuse tiers).
  • The number of years between the abuse and the filing deadline, and applicable statute of limitations under state law.
  • Corroborating evidence and documentation submitted with the claim.
  • Any applicable adjustments for age, prior settlements, or other mitigating factors.

Each claim is reviewed individually, and compensation amounts reflect the unique circumstances of each survivor’s experience.
