David L. Bayne, Jr. has been a valued member of the Ashcraft & Gerel team for more than 19 years. An impressive background in criminal law and public defense, as well as an avid interest in constitutional rights, informs his leadership in the firm’s workers’ compensation practice area. A force to be dealt with in the courtroom, Mr. Bayne is a tenacious advocate for each and every one of his clients.
Early Years
After graduating from Georgetown University in 1992, Mr. Bayne earned his law degree in 1995 from the Whittier Law School in Los Angeles, California, where he was a member of the Whittier Law Review and a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Criminal Procedure.
From December 1996 to March 1999, Mr. Bayne served as a public defender for the City of Portsmouth, Virginia. Directly afterwards, he started a private practice, closing it after two years to join Ashcraft & Gerel.
Outside the Courtroom
Mr. Bayne enjoys the local music scene. Whenever he’s free, he lends a hand to promote select bands and record labels.
