R. Bryant McCulley is an experienced trial lawyer who has helped his clients achieve significant results in complex matters spanning a range of industries and legal disciplines. From antitrust, securities, and healthcare matters to some of the largest mass torts in the country, Mr. McCulley has been privileged to represent a diverse mix of deserving clients.

For example, Mr. McCulley was among the leadership who obtained an $82 million settlement in a nationwide RICO class action in the District of Massachusetts on behalf of self-insured healthcare payors and a $24 million settlement in a multistate indirect purchaser antitrust class action in the Southern District of New York on behalf of retail purchasers of financial instruments.  Mr. McCulley has similarly represented plaintiffs in numerous antitrust class actions which successfully recovered over $2 billion. See, e.g., In re ISDAFIX Antitrust Litig., No. 14-cv-7126 (S.D.N.Y.) (over $500 million); In re MF Global Holdings Ltd. Investment Litigation, No. 11-cv-07866 (S.D.N.Y.) (approximately $1.6 billion returned to thousands of commodities account holders).  Mr. McCulley has also served as counsel to thousands of individual clients in mass torts ranging from the BP Oil Spill to the contamination of drinking water at Camp Lejeune.

In addition to representing private entities and individuals, Mr. McCulley has been selected by numerous State Attorneys General and other governmental entities to serve as special or outside counsel to pursue significant claims on behalf of their jurisdictions and/or citizens.  For example, Mr. McCulley served as outside counsel to the States of Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Utah in healthcare fraud litigation, successfully recovering tens of millions of dollars in damages. Mr. McCulley has also represented numerous cities and counties in various matters including Baltimore, Maryland, Columbia, South Carolina, and Duval County, Florida.  While Mr. McCulley’s practice now focuses solely on representing plaintiffs, Mr. McCulley also has experience representing defendants in “bet-the-company” litigation. While associated with Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP, Mr. McCulley, among other matters, defended a manufacturer in an antitrust action seeking over $1 billion in damages.

Mr. McCulley is a summa cum laude graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Omicron Delta Kappa and served as the Chairman of the Student Honor Court. He received a MSc in Environmental Studies, with distinction, from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland, which he attended on a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship. He then graduated from the Washington & Lee University School of Law, magna cum laude, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Washington & Lee Law Review. Following law school, Mr. McCulley served as a law clerk to the Hon. Karon O. Bowdre, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama.

Mr. McCulley is admitted to the Bars of the States of South Carolina, Alabama and Florida, as well as the District of Columbia, and the United States District Courts for the Northern District of Alabama and the Middle District of Florida.
