Our Team Is Working Hard on Cases Involving ParaGard IUDs and Weed Killer Paraquat
Ashcraft & Gerel is known for taking complex, high-profile cases in the name of consumer protection. This month, we have news regarding our involvement in two major litigation efforts to help injured consumers find justice and compensation against companies that release dangerous products.
Attorney Parfitt Selected to Leadership Position in ParaGard IUD Litigation
For years, patients who have opted for a ParaGard IUD have complained about serious and unexpected side effects caused by device breakage. When one or both copper IUD arms breaks off, a patient may have to undergo surgery such as a hysterectomy or laparotomy. This can severely inconvenience anyone affected, causing months of discomfort and high medical bills.
Multiple cases involving ParaGard IUDs have been consolidated into a multidistrict litigation (MDL) in a Georgia District Court under Judge Leigh Martin May. Attorney Michelle Parfitt, who has storied experience in MDL cases, has been named to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee (PSC). She will be joined by Ashcraft & Gerel attorneys James F. Green, Drew LaFramboise, and Patrick Lyons in leading our firm’s response to this litigation.
Ashcraft & Gerel Begins Investigating Links Between Paraquat and Parkinson’s Disease
As weeds have developed a resistance to herbicide Roundup, more farms have switched to the dangerous herbicide Paraquat. Already banned in multiple countries, Paraquat has been linked to an increased risk of Parkinson’s disease, especially among those who are already genetically predisposed.
Our National attorneys are stepping up to investigate potential cases of Paraquat-caused Parkinson’s. If you or a loved one developed this tragic degenerative disease and worked at or lived near farmland, you may be eligible to file a lawsuit.
